Art Project Press publishes works in art, prose, and performance. These works embody freedom of expression, the potential for discovery, and the values of stewardship, responsibility, integrity, and humor explored within the press’s home at Quill Nook Farm.
Kids give themselves permission to break the rules and take risks when they are doing an “art project.” This name for our press is our invitation to you to make an honest go at it.
It may not feel like fine art because it’s your blood and guts, but we take inspiration from the likes of David Bowie in noting that it’s the fine art world that picks a handful of winners but that the ability to make art is inherent in all of us. We look for merit in works “written with blood” that are “not to be read but to be learned by heart,” in the spirit of Nietzsche, writing in Thus Spoke Zarathustra, or as expressed by Bowie here.
Art Project Press publishes a wide range of voices. We particularly respect and are excited to work with previously marginalized groups and individuals who have held space for embodied ways of being, thinking, and connecting.
