Museums
Located in Brattleboro’s historic train depot, BMAC has rotating exhibits focused on the work of living artists usually from the region. Friendly for families and an easy stop along with visits to the Brattleboro Food Coop and the rest of downtown.

Incredible collection of exhibits covering plants and animals native to southern Vermont. Well worth the visit, along with the adjacent Hogback Mountain overlook and hiking trails. The museum includes live animal exhibits (most recently we saw a huge snapping turtle, opossum, bald eagles, and owls), ecology, geology and natural history exhibits.

World-class contemporary art museum, well worth spending a day here or coming for the weekend for one of their music festivals. MASS MoCA manages to be the opposite of a stuffy art museum, but without pandering. It’s truly fun to tour with your kids or go on your own or with a partner and follow your curiosity. The historic mill complex itself is worth the visit, with both indoor and outdoor exhibits and connections to historic North Adams. Book ahead for the especially unique experiences such as the James Turrell exhibits. Check out other attractions such as the Natural Bridge State Park and food at Tourists to round out a day.
